How can you remember EVERYTHING...
except the one thing you told yourself not to?
You have 100 tabs open on your phone...
but can't find the one you're looking for.
You put the appointment in your calendar...
on the wrong day.
You cancelled that subscription...
the day after you're charged for it.
And the sweater you meant to return?
The return window closed yesterday.
You're constantly trying to stay one step ahead of your own brain. You make the lists, sticky notes, phone reminders, whiteboard by the front door. You set reminders for your reminders. You replay conversations, trying to remember exactly what was said and when.
You try, and try and try and wonder why things that seem so easy for other people take so much freaking effort for you.
To the outside world, you look capable, confident and busy. You may even be the person everyone else depends on. But they don't see how much work it takes to keep all the balls in the air.
Every missed appointment, every forgotten task, every ball dropped adds another layer of frustration, guilt and shame. Until forgetting doesn't just feel like a mistake. It feels like evidence that you're a failure.
I provide online therapy for women with ADHD in Michigan and Florida who are damn tired of trying to keep all the balls in the air.
